zOMG – Free Social MMO for Mac
zOMG! is a browser-based social MMO for Mac that offers a thrilling and addictive fun-filled ride through a wacky world of adventure and mishaps quite different from the norm. An interesting main storyline featuring inanimate objects which have been mysteriously animated and set loose upon the world, the persistent world game is constantly updated and moves through new side stories related to the main theme in order to keep players entertained as they unravel the mystery. The game offers free play with the option of adding premium services and buying items on the website.
In addition to being extremely well produced graphically and having such a fun and interesting storyline, zOMG! also takes an interesting approach to character development and learned skills. There exist a huge array of special rings in the game that give players new abilities and skills ranging from the expected (increased healing) to the downright bizarre (wrapping an enemy in duct tape or throwing hornet’s nests around!). The ability to use rings depends on the player’s stamina. If the player runs out of stamina, no further rings can be used until the player has rested. These rings can be equipped and removed at the player’s whim and a total of eight rings can be equipped at any one time. This gives a very dynamic and fun feel to the game’s combat system as players try out different strategies and ring combinations to advance their avatars.
Like other MMORPG for Mac titles, the game features a questing system (known as Tasks) that offers rewards for the player. The game also allows players to obtain badges for special feats they accomplish in the game, an achievements system that gives players bragging rights and the ability to show off to their friends. Joining in is quick and simple, just create an account and log in. Enter the world of zOMG! and find out whether you have what it takes to become a true hero.

This game is actually part of the website called Gaia Online. You have to be a member to play, I think, but membership is free. (I’m on there.)
