Quake Live for Mac Users
Quake live went public beta a few weeks back and the anticipations for the game was high. First of ID software had some problems with their servers, people had que times for up to an hour. This problem seem to be fixed now and the game is running more smooth day by day.
Yesterday id Software’s John Carmack announced that Quake Live is comming for mac and linux.
He said in an interview with joystick:
it’s pretty high on my priority list to have the Mac and Linux support.” To that end, an external contractor is working on just that “right now” but Carmack acknowledges that Quake Live compatibility “is going to be a much bigger factor in [the Mac and Linux markets] for people wanting to play the game than it is on the Win32 market where you have so many more options.” Carmack was even hopeful that, with enough popularity and some special attention from Apple, the could get “maybe a handful of milliseconds better [on Mac OS] than you can actually get on Windows.
Yes I know Quke Live is not an MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online Game) but it’s a free game that’s going to be played by thousands of players around the world. They will all share the same stats, Frags,Deaths, wins, losses and so on.
For those who are unfamiliar with this Classic First Person Shooter (FPS) based on Quake 3 can read more here.
MMOmac.com will continue follow the Quake Live scene and will deliver the news for the mac release on time.
