Onverse is rather unique among MMORPG for Mac titles. Created as a hybrid online universe and social network, Onverse for Mac offers media sharing, micro-blogging, social profiles and user comments in addition to the virtual world itself in which players can shop, play games or chat to the many new friends they make online. Vastly different from most other MMO for Mac games, Onverse is definitely built for those who want more social in their games.
Rather than having a consistent linear storyline which players must advance through to level up their character or avatar, Onverse has no story and replaces it with the ability to purchase items in game to customize your avatar and to buy and furnish a home. With the addition of Estates in Onverse, players can even decorate their garden to really add some style to their in-world home. This MMO for Mac also features mini-games which can be played with friends in the online world. IceFall is a kind of First-Person Shooter (FPS) where players attempt to knock each other off a floating platform with snowballs whilst collecting Player Points. The other popular game in Onverse is SplatBall, another shooter played with paint-ball guns that offers free-for-all and team play modes.
As with other MMORPG for Mac titles, Onverse operates with a dual currency system. The first is Player Points (PP), gained by using tools or playing mini-games. The second is Cash Coins (CC) and these are bought with real money out of world on the website. The purchasable items in Onverse are roughly divided in two, with half obtainable with PP and the other half requiring CC. There is also a pay-to-play service known as the “VIP Club” for those who choose to go down that path. Whether players choose to pay for Onverse or not, they are sure to find much fun to be had making new friends and hanging out with them in this extremely unique Online Universe.
If you enjoy a social experience set in an virtual world Onverse might be for you. Join thousands and level up while completing social mini games.
